BLU SKY KIKOS is owned and operated by Sky and Debora Shivers of Prague, Oklahoma. Our breeding program includes a small select group of Percentages and Purebreds. However, our main emphasis is on the 100% New Zealand Kiko that features the Sons/Grandsons and Daughters/Granddaughters of the ORIGINAL 100% New Zealand Genetics. We are involved in an embryo flush program where we are attempting to preserve as much of the genetic traits of the original New Zealand Kiko imports as possible. We offer semen for sale on all of our 100% New Zealand Kiko Bucks. We are also committed to the EPD program and participating in as many forage based feed trails as possible. We believe in testing our genetics.
The Kiko is the toughest, most problem free, low maintenance Goat of any breed we have ever raised. They have proven themselves to: · Be number one in parasite resistance of all breeds tested at Tennessee State University {TSU} · Have less hoof problems than any other breed {TSU} · Have Super Maternal Instincts {TSU} · Have ease in birthing – after the first kidding season when our Kiko Does gave birth in the pastures with no assistance and had strong healthy kids WE KNEW KIKOS WERE THE BREED FOR US!!!!! · Be aggressive browsers and have the best forage only growth rates of all other breeds. When we still had multiple breeds in our herds we observed that when a drizzle or light shower would occur the Kikos were the LAST ones to seek shelter and the FIRST ones to venture out and return to foraging. · Be non-seasonal breeders – {Kikos will breed year around with some producing three litters in two years} · Be strong aggressive breeders with the Bucks often being fertile as young as four months of age. As a mature two year old Buck they can be expected to settle 60 to 100 Does in two heat cycles {45 days}. While at the same time we have two 10 year old Kiko Bucks that are very fertile and being used as senior herd sires. · Produce Does that have a long reproductive life. We have 10 year old pregnant Does in our herd that still have beautiful udders and have raised kids without help every year.
